SARASOTA — The Central West Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association recently was honored with several awards including the President’s Award for Financial Management.
Jennifer Moss, state president of the Florida Public Relations Association, said the chapter exceeded her expectations in not only using Quick Books to prepare detailed budget and monthly financial reports but also implementing a Square UP phone application to enable credit card payments at monthly meetings. She also recognized that the chapter’s meeting attendance income was up 48 percent with overall expenses 28 percent under budget.
The chapter also won the “Chapter Cheer” contest, for a second year in a row, in which the chapter submitted a video based on this years’ conference theme: FPRA University Class Reunion 2011. Chapter members recognized at the 2011 Golden Image Awards included: Mischa B. Kirby, who won an award of distinction for her fiscal year 2010 YMCA annual report; KSC, Inc., who won an award of distinction for its All About Sarasota Kids website and the Sarasota Convention and Visitor’s Bureau won a Golden Image Award for the Sarasota CVB architecture guide.
Local Servpro franchises recognized
BRADENTON — Owners of Servpro franchises in the Bradenton area were honored during the company’s 42nd annual national convention recently.
Larry Hibbs and Joanne Hibbs, owners of Servpro of Bradenton, received the Millionaire’s Bronze award. Jeff Vermillion and Monique Vermillion, owners of Servpro of North Sarasota, received the Director’s Silver award.
The awards recognize franchisees for outstanding revenue performance and/or service to the company.

Neal joins online home shopping network

Verizon invests $131 million in wireless services
TAMPA — Verizon Wireless has invested $131 million during the first six months of 2011 in Florida to enhance wireless services and network coverage for its customers.
The 2011 investment includes the continued rollout of the company’s 4G LTE network, which now serves the core areas of Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Tampa Bay, Orlando, Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Gainesville, Sarasota-Bradenton and Lakeland.
The 4G LTE network also serves customers along Duval Street in Key West and in nine airports, including the Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers.
Envirotec Air participates in quality assured program
MANATEE — Envirotec Air Inc. was recognized by the Air Conditioning Contractors of America as a participant in the Quality Assured Program.
The program recognizes professional heating ventilating and air conditioning companies that install heating and cooling systems in support of the Energy Star for Qualified New Homes program. Only contractors in the program are authorized to submit proposals for new homes intended for Enerby Star qualification completed in 2012.
